Yeah, this meme asks for CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT, not art technique and skill development. These were drawn side by side at the same time to show the concept of how much the character has changed in nearly a decade. This is better than showing a drawing by a 10-year-old and then a drawing by that now grown 20-year-old because the drastic change in style and ability would distract from the significant changes to the character concept. Drawing what the character embodied then, and what the character embodies NOW is showing this artist’s growth. You see things that were clearly fads fade away, yet some design constants that show the integrity of this character.
Just saying. Like or dislike her current style all you want, but don’t form opinions on the quality of her consistent work based off ill-informed misjudgements of a single piece posted out of context by people who were trolling in the first place.
