In episode 154, CereCere targeted an event that Makoto and Minako were working at. The enemy’s giant plant captured the two girls as they tried to transform. However, their awakened powers freed them from the vines. Makoto then turned into Super Sailor Jupiter.

The sequence involved Makoto holding her Crystal Change Rod up and shouting the command. Streams of electricity spun around her body, gradually forming her sentofuku. She made a finishing pose in front of the Leaves of Oak symbol.

The basic animation from Jupiter’s previous transformations was reused and updated, and Makoto’s face was redrawn to match the overall style of SuperS.

In the manga, Makoto transformed into Super Sailor Jupiter by using the Jupiter Crystal.

[HENSHIN] Moon Cosmic Power Make-Up

In episode 90, Rei was attacked by a daimon monster called Mikuji. Sailor Moon came to her aid, but the creature was too fast and too strong. It pinned Moon to a tree, and then bit into the Crystal Star. Usagi reverted to her normal attire, and the brooch fell on the ground. In the next episode, the Crystal Star still didn’t work when another daimon appeared. It ravaged the other senshi and Tuxedo Mask. Usagi refused to leave even though she couldn’t transform. Usagi and Tuxedo Mask held hands, and a new weapon and brooch were born from their love. With the Cosmic Heart Compact (コズミック・ハート・コンパクト), Usagi turned into Sailor Moon again.

This sequence was very heart centric to match the shape of Usagi’s new compact. The crescent moon on her choker was replaced with a yellow heart, and the red jewel in her tiara was now a crescent moon. The first form of this transformation had a few differences from the rest of the season. When Sailor Moon did her final pose at the end, the designs within the background heart were yellow and less detailed. Later, they were dark red.

[HENSHIN] Jupiter Power Make-Up

This is Sailor Jupiter’s first transformation.  During Sailor Moon’s first battle with one of the Seven Great Youma, the sign of Jupiter appeared on Makoto’s forehead. Luna gave her a henshin pen (変身ペン), and she turned into Sailor Jupiter.  Rings and bolts of electricity form her uniform.
