High five! The first comic that I bought was an Amazing Spider-Man comic and this cartoon along with reruns of the 60’s Spidey cartoon and Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends were the cartoons that made me want to read comics (90’s X-Men and BTAS also did their part).
the xmen show did it for me. my first comic was xmen. <3

Mary Jane’s iconic (and endlessly remixed) introduction from ASM #42 was technically her third appearance, not her first. In this issue and in ASM #38, she showed up with her face strategically hidden from sight. These were the only two times MJ was drawn by Spider-Man co-creator Steve Ditko; note also that she’s dressed very differently from the jeans and tank top that became her best known outfit under John Romita, Sr’s pen.
On another note, today is Ditko’s birthday! Happy 85th, Steve.
well, if you look at the identical faces of the two different women on the right, adding a third identical face to another different woman would have just been a travesty. :P
